Portable, Sturdy and Solid Construction,
I just used the Stanton Uberstand for a club DJ gig. I had to travel via train to get to the gig and I was lugging around two laptops and an Xponent, so the Uberstand’s light weight and flat profile (when folded) was a real plus. The body is also solidly constructed, and its silver finish is complementary to my Macbook Pro 15-inch unibody. In order to fit the legs of the stand under my Xponent, I have to place my Xponent on some drink coasters, but that’s not a big issue (helps keep the Xponent off the table in case of drink spillage). When set up, it feels solid and unlikely to topple over when bumped. The rubber at the end of the legs also keeps the laptop from moving while balanced on the top. The stand also comes with a snug-fitting carry case.
My only gripe is that you need a (provided) plastic handcuff thing to hold the base in place when you are setting it up. I can see myself losing this plastic handcuff eventually, so I would prefer some mechanical locking mechanism instead. Other than this one gripe, this is an excellent product for mobile DJs.

|This may be the worst product in the history of products,
I prefer my laptop not to gently bounce a half an inch up and down every time I touch it.
And seriously, a freakin’ zip tie? Seriously? That is the most half-assed product design solution I have ever seen. Does Stanton also expect you to install their cartridges with a wadded-up piece of used chewing gum?
The designers and marketers of this product ought to be embarrassed about this.

|Great Portable Stand,
I don’t understand why people complain about its stability. I’ve used this with an HP 15″ and with my new 15″ Macbook Pro. All the weight is aimed and tilted forward and uses the weight of your notebook to stand itself up. So unless someone physically pushes or pulls it backward it won’t fall over.
This stand fits perfectly around my Rane TTM56. My only complaint is the very losable ziptie support. I wish Stanton would come up with a built in support.
